Margaret Moore, Community Development Manager, Kaw Valley Girl Scouts, spoke on “Beyond Bars program”which assists girls to communicate with mothers who have been imprisoned.

Tim Buser, U.S. Postal Service Distribution Center of Topeka, spoke on “Mail Design and Addressing Made Easy”in regards to mailing flyers, magazines and special projects

DECEMBER MEETING: Tues., Dec. 21
Friends and colleagues from AWC celebrated the holidays with an extra special luncheon, dining at the beautiful Shawnee Country Club. One of our very own AWC members, Jannett Weins, the club manager at SCC, helped arrange this meeting. A few AWC members showcased items for sale, such as jewelry, cosmetics, candles, etc. Also, members brought contributions to the Battered Women's Task Force to help those in need.



NOVEMBER MEETING: Tues., Nov. 16
Dr. Thimios Zaharopoulos Thimios Zaharopoulos,
Professor and Chair of the Mass Media Department at Washburn University,
spoke on “Communicating the Athens Olympic Games.” Dr. Zaharopoulos was born in Greece and immigrated to the United States at age 13.

Ruth Ritthaler, Assistant Attorney General with the Vulnerable Adults Task Force, spoke on “Identity Theft.”

SEPTEMBER MEETING: Tues., Sept. 21

Carol Bragdon, Advanced Registered Nurse Practioner with the Cotton-O’Neil Heart Center, a division of Stormont-Vail Health Care, spoke on “Women and Heart Disease.”



AUGUST MEETING: Tues., August 17

Vicky Trembly, an improvisational comic and a founding member of Topeka Civic Theatre’s improvisational comedy company “Laughing Matters,” spoke on
“Meeting-or-Size: Twenty Minutes to a More Exciting and Productive Meeting Experience.”
