Park awarded AWC National
Honorary Membership
Ginger Park, Marketing Coordinator for accessKansas in Topeka, has been awarded National Honorary Membership by the Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications. The Topeka AWC Chapter is honoring Park being a positive role model for women in communications in the Topeka area.
accessKansas is the official Web site of the state of Kansas. It provides citizens and businesses the ability to complete state transactions and gather information online. She recently spoke at a Topeka membership meeting for the Topeka group on “Improving Communications on the Web.”
Park is a former member of the Association for Educators in Journalism and Mass Communication and also participates in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
She has received a Bronze Quill award from the International Association of Business Communicators and also a Clarion award from the International Association of Women in Communication for outstanding work on various newsletters.

Miller awarded AWC National Honorary Membership
LaTonya Miller, Public Affairs Specialist for the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior in Topeka, has been awarded National Honorary Membership by the Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications. The Topeka AWC Chapter is honoring Miller for her outstanding efforts in the community as well as coordinating the grand opening and 50th anniversary commemoration of Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site in May.
She recently spoke at a Topeka membership meeting for the Topeka group detailing the efforts involved in planning the historic event.
Miller’s work at the Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site includes providing information to various local, national and international media concerning park programs and event activities. She helps to raise public awareness of the park and its mission as well as coordinate VIP visits to the park.
Miller was a Whittle Communications Scholarship recipient and was the feature woman of the month in September 2002 in HersKansas magazine. She is also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club, the National Honor Society and the Topeka Tourism Alliance.

Evans awarded AWC National Honorary Membership
Adrianne Evans, Vice President of Membership for the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce in Topeka, has been awarded National Honorary Membership by the Topeka Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications. The Topeka AWC Chapter is honoring Evans for her outstanding efforts in the community.
Evans just finished a two-year term as president of Meals on Wheels Trustees and also just finished a seven-year stint with the Topeka Civic Theatre Board of Trustees. She is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Ichabod Club and will be president of that organization in 2004. She speaks to communications classes at both Washburn University and Kansas State University each semester.
A past president of the Topeka Chapter of AWC, Evans currently serves as a national judge in several categories for the AWC Clarion Awards.
She and her husband, Ted, have two grown daughters, Jenni and Brooke.

Hubbell awarded AWC National Honorary Membership
Connie Hubbell, Senior Vice-President for Community Relations at the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care in Topeka, has been awarded National Honorary Membership by the Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications. The Topeka AWC Chapter is honoring Hubbell for her personal drive and commitment to the community and as a positive role model for women in communications in the Topeka area.
She recently spoke at a Topeka membership meeting for the Topeka group on “Non-Traditional Paths to Leadership Positions.”
Hubbell has received other awards including the ABWA Woman of the Year-2003, the Sertoma District and Regional Service to Mankind Award-2003 and the Gold Rose Award from the Junior League of Topeka.
Her community involvement includes: Board Member and past President YMCA; Board Member St. Francis Foundation; Board Member and past President Volunteer Center of Topeka; Board Member Friends of the Topeka/Shawnee County Library; Past Board Member and Past Chairman of the Topeka/Shawnee County Library Foundation; Past Chair and Member of the Kansas State Board of Education and former Chair of the National Association of State Boards of Education.

Piland awarded AWC National Honorary Membership
The Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) has honored Martha Bartlett Piland, President/CEO of MB Piland Advertising and Marketing, as a National Honorary Member.
Piland received this award for her continued effort in good business practices and her sincere concern for the community. She has been in charge of her business for five years and has shared her experience and tips on communication with AWC members.
“Piland is a positive role model for women in the Topeka area,” said AWC President Irene Haws.
Piland business features Fat Free Advertising and is a full-service firm providing marketing consultation, advertising, web development, public relations and special events. She took part in the 2003 Class of Leadership Kansas and is a member of the Topeka Advertising Federation, the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce, and the Topeka South Rotary.
