2003 Rising Star Award The award is presented in honor of past chapter member Carolyn Terhune, AWC president from 1978 to 1980, and recognizes a member with less than two years chapter membership for outstanding involvement in the organization.
Keri Renner was awarded the Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) Rising Star Award for 2003. Renner joined AWC in October 2001. She was nominated for her ambition and dedication to the chapter. Renner joined the board as Vice President of Administration almost immediately after joining AWC and has remained very active while completing school as well as balancing jobs and internships. She is very professional and an asset to the Topeka organization. Renner is currently serving as Job Bank Chairperson. Renner graduated from Washburn University in May and was recently named the Director of Communications for Association Management, Inc./Kearney and Associates, Inc. She serves as media liaison, designs and maintains the association’s web sites and develops publications and legislative reports. Renner and her husband, Chuck, reside in Topeka.
