2006 Rising Star Award


The award is presented in honor of past chapter member Carolyn Terhune, AWC president from 1978 to 1980, and recognizes a member with less than two years chapter membership for outstanding involvement in the organization.

Congratulations to Mary Napier, 2006 Rising Star Award Recepient

Mary Napier was awarded the Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) Rising Star Award for 2006.

Napier served as the AWC VP-Administration in 2005-06 and is currently the President-Elect and Hospitality Chair. She is the Executive Director of the Topeka Bar Association and owns her own business, Napier Communications, Inc., a contract and freelance communications business.

Napier has performed admirably as a member of the board, giving her time and talents in significant and effective ways. She has demonstrated her commitment to the organization countless times. She has contributed ideas, shared her opinions and has been actively involved, accecpting nomination as an officer only months after becoming a member. She has presented herself in a professional manner and performed the duties of her elected position in an effective manner. Her organizatioal skills have helped to promote AWC and provide reminders for other board members. She has demonstrated a keen sense leadership in her development.
