2005 Student Scholarship

Rachel Burchfield

The Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) selected Rachel Burchfield, a 2005 graduate of Washburn Rural High School, as the winner in the organization’s annual scholarship contest.

Burchfield has been in journalism and newspaper classes since her freshman year. She is Senior Class Vice-President, an honor students, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Burchfield plans on attending the University of Kansas this fall. She is the daughter of Larry and Joy Burchfield.

The scholarship was presented to Burchfield at the AWC monthly meeting on May 17 at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th Street, in Topeka.
