Sarah Van Dalsem
The Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) selected Sarah Van Dalsem, a student at Washburn University of Topeka, as the winner in the organization’s annual scholarship contest.
Van Dalsem has been a staff writer, copy editor, managing copy editor and now the new incoming editor of the Washburn Review. She is a member of the Da bate Team, Journalists of Washburn, Pi Kappa Delta, Speech and Debate Club, and Society for Collegiate Journalists. She has worked as a sports copy clerk for The Topeka Capital-Journal and has been assistant researcher for Mass Media Department and Media Lab Assistant at Washburn.
Van Dalsem has been awarded the Kansas Associated Press All-State award and she has been on the Dean's honor roll in 2003, 2004 and 2005. She hopes to eventually earn her doctorate in mass communication theory and become a university professor.
In 2003, Van Dalsem won an AWC scholarship as a graduating high school student. The 2006 scholarship was presented to Van Dalsem at the AWC monthly meeting on April 18 at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th Street, in Topeka. |
