Katelyn Weishaar
The Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) has awarded its annual scholarship to Katelyn Weishaar. Weishaar is from Winchester, Kan., and is currently a senior at Washburn University. She is studying public relations and corporate communications.
Weishaar is a member the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority where she helps with various public relations projects. She also is a member of the President's Honor Roll, a chartering member of the Alpha Lambda Delta freshman honor society, and now a member of Kappa Alpha Sigma sorority honor society and Order of Omega Honorary Order.
Besides her university involvement, she has completed two Washburn University Transformational Experiences through community involvement and international studies. She also has obtained a permanent student internship through the Health Revenue Center under the Public Affairs Officer where she writes their monthly employee newsletter along with other various job duties.
Weishaar is scheduled to graduate in December 2009 with a Bachelors degree in both mass media and communication, and is contemplating adding a minor in Spanish. Once she obtains these degrees, she plans on attending graduate school to work toward a Masters degree in business administration.
Topeka AWC is proud to award this year's scholarship to Weishaar. The organization presented her with a certificate during its April 15, 2008 membership meeting at the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th Street, in Topeka. This scholarship is awarded annually to a Washburn University student who shows exemplary work in a communications related field.
