Vanguard Award 2004/National Chapter Star Award


The award is presented in memory of past chapter member Louise Roote, a former editor at Capper’s Weekly and AWC member, and recognizes a member with more than two years chapter membership for outstanding involvement in the organization.

Congratulations to Irene Haws, 2004 Vanguard Award Recepient

Irene Haws was awarded the Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) Vanguard Award for 2004 &
National Chapter Star Award

Haws joined AWC in 1995 and has served as the Vice President of Finance, President-Elect as well as two terms as the chapter’s President. She has also served on numerous committees. Haws was honored in 1998 as the chapter’s Rising Star Award winner.

As the chapter Vanguard Award winner, she will also serve as the National Chapter Star Award recognizing the Topeka Chapter at the national convention.

According to the nominations, Haws is truly an excellent example of a successful woman in communications. She was also honored because of her positive attitude and willingness to pitch in to make a project a success.

Haws is an account representative at Mainline Printing and also has a freelance design business, I-Design Graphic Services. She and her son, Rhett Neuer, reside in Topeka.
