Vanguard Award 2005/National Chapter Star Award

The award is presented in memory of past chapter member Louise Roote, a former editor at Capper’s Weekly and AWC member, and recognizes a member with more than two years chapter membership for outstanding involvement in the organization.

Congratulations to Carol Yoho, 2005 Vanguard Award Recepient

Carol Yoho was awarded the Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) Vanguard Award for 2005 & National Chapter Star Award.

Yoho, a Washburn University professor and co-owner of Dancing Goat Press, joined AWC in 2001.

According to the nominations, she has been eager to learn while taking on the president-elect duties, selflessly worked on the chapter Web site, and designed a colorful and informative newsletter. Yoho was also honored because of her cheerful and encouraging attitude.

She has served as the Web development chair, job bank chair, president-elect and a member of the scholarship committee. She was recently elected chapter president.

As the chapter Vanguard Award winner, Yoho also served as the Topeka Chapter Star, recognized at the national AWC convention this fall in Lubbock, Texas.
