Vanguard Award 2008/National Chapter Star Award
The award is presented in memory of past chapter member Louise Roote, a former editor at Capper’s Weekly and AWC member, and recognizes a member with more than two years chapter membership for outstanding involvement in the organization.

Carol Yoho, 2008 Vanguard Award recipient

Carol Yoho was awarded the Topeka Professional Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) Vanguard Award for 2008 & National Chapter Star Award.
Yoho is a Washburn University professor and co-owner of Dancing Goat Press.
This is her second time receiving this award, but the award committee felt she was very deserving for all of her hard work in the past year. She spent countless hours working to improve the image of Topeka AWC by re-designing the organization’s website (www.topekaawc.org), and constantly asking for up-to-date information in order to keep things current. The new design is definitely a better representation of Topeka AWC.
Yoho joined AWC in 2001 and has been dedicated to the group since that time. She has served on the board as the job bank chair, president-elect, president, past president, VP of membership, and has been the Website chair for many years.
She will be recognized as the National Chapter Star Award winner at this year’s national convention in Washington, DC.
